A landmark moment for oncology care in the south — the PTG Muntinlupa Chemotherapy Center, a subsidiary of the We Hope Medical Group, officially launches with a mission to bring free cancer treatment closer to the communities that need it most. With the presence of city leadership, this facility represents a bold new chapter in accessible, compassionate healthcare.
Cancer is the second leading cause of death nationwide, with 58,656 recorded deaths in 2025. Despite the passage of the National Integrated Cancer Control Act (NICCA), many patients continue to struggle with late diagnosis, limited access to specialized care, and high out‑of‑pocket expenses. Standard chemotherapy cycles can cost upwards of 120,000 pesos, often forcing families into debt or treatment abandonment. Despite the increasing number of cases, the majority has limited access to standalone cancer treatment facilities, forcing patients to travel to Metro Manila for specialized and government subsidized care. This situation places a heavy financial and emotional burden on families, many of whom struggle with the high costs of treatment and long waiting times.
